What is GIM?
The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music (GIM) is a gentle music-centered transpersonal psychotherapy that uses sequences of classical music to stimulate imagery and journeys into different levels of consciousness. Exploration of deep inner states facilitates integration, healing, transformation and growth. GIM has been effective
with a wide range of people and issues.
Who can take this training?
GIM training is designed for professionals with a background in music therapy, counselling, creative arts therapies, and related health care professions. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required as well as completion of a Level 1 Training in The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music.
What will happen in this training?
The Level 2 GIM Training provides opportunities to deepen the learning of all aspects of the Introductory Level 1 Training. It includes didactic and experiential components; an introduction to four additional GIM music programs; instruction in the therapeutic effects of classical music and the facilitation of imagery with music; demonstration and practice in expanded relaxation and guiding techniques; expanded adaptations of the Bonny Method for groups; personal experiences with GIM as a therapist and an imager; and supervision of guiding skills. A practicum component of 10 practice sessions is required after the Training seminar. Advanced training in GIM is necessary before a student is fully qualified to practice this therapy.
The training is endorsed by the Association for Music and Imagery. https://ami-bonnymethod.org/
